England National Football Team Vs Slovakia National Football Team Timeline is the best way to predict the match results to win rewards.

Gareth Southgate’s team faced an exceptionally challenging group at Euro 2024 and struggled to control much of the first half against Slovakia. Ivan Schranz scored to separate both teams at half-time.

Eberechi Eze has an opportunity for England, but misses his shot just wide of its intended target. Norbert Gyomber then replaces Eze.

England vs Slovakia

Gareth Southgate must be worried by England’s failure to create any chances in the first 45 minutes, which should prompt his players to press Slovakian backlines more tenaciously and increase tempo in the final third.

Slovakia’s full-backs have made some questionable decisions early on in this game, such as when David Hancko burst down the left wing but his cross was cleared away by Ivan Toney when Ivan Toney came on and provided extra physicality in their attack.

Saka blocks a Slovakian corner by pushing it for a throw-in. Pickford then manages to catch Skriniar’s floated ball for another throw in.

Ivan Toney attempts to start an England counterattack but his low strike goes wide of the target. He managed more expected goals than England as a whole in their win against Iceland.

Kieran Trippier appears to have sustained an injury. Gareth Southgate appears willing to experiment but doesn’t appear willing to remove one of his front three players; Cole Palmer could potentially replace Kieran Trippier.

Slovakia makes changes. Peter Pekarik and Denis Vavro leave due to injuries, replaced by Bozenik and Suslov. Eberechi Eze joins England’s replacements squad by replacing Kobbie Mainoo.

Matchday 1

England are in danger of missing out on qualifying for Euro 2024 after their goalless draw with Slovenia left Gareth Southgate under fire from disgruntled fans at full-time. England must now win against Slovakia at Gelsenkirchen to salvage any chance at qualifying.

England still hold a slim advantage, yet must become more proactive and develop their attacking potential. Ivan Toney has brought some freshness into their side since joining them; his physicality almost scores with an overhead kick attempt; just missing its target by inches.

Foden wins an exchange, only for his shot to be blocked by a wall and later roll away for a corner kick. England defence is creaking, showing cracks of vulnerability as Foden gets past his challenger but his attempt at attacking is blocked by Trippier who then attempts improvise only for it to roll away back out for another corner kick.

England are struggling to break through Slovakia’s strong defence. Ivan Toney came close to hitting his cross on target but it was cleared off. England make another substitution as Eberechi Eze comes on for Gallagher.

Matchday 2

England still find themselves trailing Slovakia after one minute of extra time, as their opponent, Slovakia, is foiled by a heroic defensive effort from Stones and Eze. Slovakian substitute Strelec had an opportunity to equalise but his left-foot shot went way over the bar.

England need a win to boost their tournament. They need to play differently than they have been doing, although that might prove challenging given how badly they’ve struggled in possession.

Southgate remains optimistic there’s still hope – and he is right: Jude Bellingham’s late goal gives them an opportunity they might never have had otherwise.

Kobbie Mainoo made his major tournament debut for England at 19 years and 72 days old, the youngest starter since Luke Shaw made his debut against Costa Rica when Mainoo was 17! At first he appeared to be passing backwards rather than playing forward but his pace could prove valuable later. When Toney got down the left flank and attempted to force a corner kick his effort was blocked before Gyomber fouled him for which Toney went down suffering an apparent foul from which Gyomber booked him immediately afterwards.

Matchday 3

England are looking to make it two wins out of two at Euro 2024 as they face Slovakia, who lost to Belgium but held Romania to a draw during group-stage play. Gareth Southgate will hope his side can pull a surprise against Slovakia to shake off their underwhelming start to this tournament and make an impressionful statement at this tournament.

Slovakia are making an early statement, pushing players forward and looking dangerous on the counter-attack, but an opportunity is lost when Haraslin attempts to cross over Pickford from his left position, almost scoring an own goal before his attempt is cleared off the line.

As the first half winds down without either side creating much, fans begin to lose faith in their team and Southgate makes a switch – Palmer coming on for Foden.

Gyomber immediately fouled Manchester United striker Toney from an excellent position and drew a yellow card as punishment. Slovakia resumed control, winning a free-kick on the right, which was cleared away by their defenders before Pekarik sent in a dangerous cross from left wing – which Toney managed to put under his header into goal, only for referee to blow for another corner kick.

Matchday 4

96 minutes: Toney replaces Foden who plays a promising cross which is cleared, taking this game into extra time.

Kane scores with his first touch in extra time in the 97th minute with an acrobatic header, sending shockwaves through England supporters in the stadium.

An incredible ball from Slovakia and an expert finish from Schranz see the away team progress into the quarter finals. England were unable to match Slovakia’s pace for long stretches and eventually fell victim to their superior tactics.

England are still sitting back too much. England are under attack from their host team’s right, with Haraslin emerging as a dangerous attacker on the left wing, almost getting on the end of a long ball from Trippier but missing it completely. Palace player Fabian Guehi gets involved and Haraslin receives a yellow card – already on one booking already and could potentially miss next match against Sweden if another yellow is given out.

Extra-time

England’s defensive shortcomings were laid bare when Slovakia worked the ball expertly down their right flank to set up Schranz’s cute finish. Warning signs had already appeared; and at the start of extra time Guehi accidentally tripped a defender and conceded an unnecessary free kick, further underscoring England’s vulnerabilities.

Southgate makes an inflight change, swapping out Kieran Tripper for Bukayo Saka at Tottenham. Eze moves back into his original right winger position on the right while Rice and Mainoo fill out the central area. There may be concerns that lack of pace may hamper them but at least they have one attacker to provide some spark.

At first, neither side are able to find their feet, and the game begins slowly. England eventually gain the upper hand by forcing a corner on the right flank; their delivery was then cleared successfully.

As time winds down and a grim score line looms large, pressure is mounting as fans fret about their team’s attacking options and defence. Unfortunately, the first half-hour showcased a poor, disjointed performance which left little reason for optimism from its supporters.
