Gujarat Titans Vs Mumbai Indians Match Scorecard

Gujarat Titans has assembled an all-star squad, ready to compete against leading cricket groups. Their lineup contains both batsmen and bowlers.

According to US investment bank Houlihan Lokey’s report, the Indian Premier League has become one of the world’s most valuable sports leagues with a brand value reaching an incredible $16.4 billion. In this article, we will discuss the main points or high lights of Gujarat Titans Vs Mumbai Indians Match Scorecard.

Sai Sudharsan (45)

Sai Sudharsan led Gujarat Titans (GT) to victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets at Ahmedabad’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Ground on the opening day of their season at Maharashtra Cricket Association Ground. He scored an unbeaten 84 off 49 balls with nine fours and five sixes before succumbing to an innocuous delivery from Piyush Chawla’s bowler Piyush Chawla.

A standout talent in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Premier League, left-hander Sivakumar was swiftly introduced into all formats for state cricket across all formats. Making his white-ball debut late 2021 and going on to feature in ODI and T20I formats respectively; as well as joining India A for Zimbabwe series earlier this year.

Sudharsan was selected by GT in the IPL 2022 mega auction at his base price of INR 20 lakh and finds great joy being part of their team, where he can bat freely during net sessions to find his groove and set new records for runs scored per over. Sudharsan claims his timing has always been extraordinary and feels fortunate to be playing at such an elite level.

Shubman Gill, GT captain, acknowledges the dew factor was a challenge but praises his teammates for remaining composed despite it. In particular he credits Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore along with Mohit Sharma who have all played important roles in their team’s success this season. Gill acknowledges their unwavering support as they always show up big numbers to back them when playing day or night matches – their backbone of this franchise he considers immense!

Dewald Brevis (46), Tilak Varma (45)

After an unexpectedly dismal start to their season, Gujarat Titans battled hard for survival and eventually made it through to the playoffs. Paying an exorbitant sum to bring Mohammad Shami into their fold seemed to pay dividends; taking plenty of wickets during league stage play and serving as an anchor player for them was exactly what was needed to reach playoff contention.

But, Titans struggled to score runs, ultimately falling to MS Dhoni’s CSK side in the final. This was partly a result of poor batsmen performances by Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill; only these two managed to surpass 500 runs each.

In their inaugural match of the season against Mumbai Indians, they were defeated by an overwhelming margin due to poor performances by Ishan Kishan and middle order batsmen; coupled with some effective bowling by Mumbai.

But against Delhi Capitals they exhibited an altogether different performance, coming out confident and looking to post a substantial total. Rishabh Pant displayed his unbeaten 88 and helped the team reach 224 for 4.

Gujarat batsmen were put under tremendous strain from the first ball. Ishan Kishan found himself struggling against the pace, and was soon dismissed early on. Soon thereafter, Tilak Varma and Tim David struggled to make their mark, ultimately dismantling any run chase attempt they attempted. Additionally, Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan proved effective spinners.

Jasprit Bumrah (3/14)

Jasprit Bumrah made an outstanding comeback from injury with an outstanding bowling performance for Mumbai Indians against Gujarat Titans – restricting them to just 168/6 in 20 overs with excellent line and length bowling and accurate yorkers that rattled batters from both teams – Sai Sudharsan’s 45 was the sole test against their bowling unit from MI.

Ishan Kishan delivered the initial blow in the 16th over, when he nicked an Azmatullah Omarzai (2/27) delivery directly to Wriddhiman Saha at slip. Bumrah then struck again in the 19th over with an off-spinner who produced an outswinging short delivery on middle stump that disoriented David Miller who missed it and ran back. Bumrah struck again later when David Miller failed to stop running after mistiming another short delivery on middle stump that he then failed to stop and was picked up off by Wriddhiman Saha at slip.

But then the batsmen tried to respond and put pressure on MI bowlers. Rahul Tewatia scored two consecutive boundaries off Luke Wood’s second over – a slow fuller outside off that he dug in and hit over the third man fence – that Rahul Tewatia dug in and hit for two boundaries off of.

Tewatia delivered the decisive blow in the 20th over when he unleashed an off-drive off Mohit Sharma (2/32) to take advantage of another short ball on middle, then used his feet to strike over midwicket for four.

Tilak Varma then performed an exceptional diving catch at deep midwicket to end the over and set MI’s total at 162-9 despite Rohit Sharma being absent; their chase seemed achievable; however, MI suffered an alarming collapse as six wickets fell for only 19 runs over 13 balls; that left them trailing by 84 runs with seven overs remaining and this is when things took an exciting turn. Hardik Pandya continued his poor form by going six and four to begin the last over. This drama only added another twist; former captain Hardik Pandya continued his struggle by going 6 and 4, which gave his opponents’ bowlers no hope as they came close to victory and their own fielders began throwing balls out to complete their run chase of 162-9 target before collapsing from 15 overs left MI chasing 171.

Umesh Yadav (2/27)

Umesh Yadav gets off to an excellent start as he bowls to the back of the stumps, Naman Dhir attempts to punch it through mid off but misses; then hits his next ball through extra cover for six.

Hardik Pandya continues his stellar form, smashing Umesh’s short ball past a diving backward point fielder for four runs – marking the first boundary of this over!

Umesh Yadav to Rohit Sharma, fuller one and around off. Rohit takes one small stride forward and caresses it through the gap between short mid wicket and deep backward square leg for four. Rohit’s on fire!

2.5: Umesh Yadav continues his good work. A short ball pitched towards the batsman resulted in him hitting it hard through cover for six runs! In total, this over produced nine runs.

Gujarat Titans appear well on their way to reaching a competitive total in this IPL opener against Mumbai Indians, thanks to Sai Sudharsan’s 45. Rahul Tewatia also made sure their batsmen didn’t get much respite during MI’s innings with his aggressive cameo in the final over.

Jasprit Bumrah’s perfect yorkers proved difficult for the Gujarat batters while debutant spinner Piyush Chawla chipped in with two wickets as debutant spinner Piyush Chawla made his IPL 2024 debut against Gujarat Titans. MI captain Hardik Pandya was pleased with his side’s performance and is confident they can chase down their target against them in IPL 2024; Hardik also lauded Tilak Varma’s decision not to take singles but rather go for big blows rather than singles himself.

Piyush Chawla (1/31)

Gujarat was looking to collapse quickly as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill fell cheaply, but Piyush Chawla’s off-spin helped the Titans post an acceptable total on an ideal pitch. Chawla bowled two wicketless overs before striking gold by taking Riley Meredith for 69 off 83 balls with his final delivery – his key wicket came when Riley missed a sweep across the line which lead to Riley being dismissed in one over.

He returned from his absence to make an invaluable contribution in helping the Titans close out a stellar IPL season, taking three or more wickets for the first time ever and giving him much-needed confidence heading into next season.

Chawla made an immediate impact when India B beat Seniors in the Challenger Trophy match but when brought on against Sri Lanka A in their match. A googly was his weapon of choice which succeeded in dismissing Kusal Perera and Mahela Jayawardene quickly as their batsmen struggled to deal with its extra pace.

After an auction tumult, few expected much from the Titans; but Hardik Pandya proved everyone wrong in their inaugural season as they emerged as formidable challengers to the big boys. Pandya led his side to glory in 2022 before the runners-up spot in 2023; yet struggled during 2024 and traded Pandya back to Mumbai Indians with Shubman Gill taking charge to start another chapter at GT – currently they remain eighth on the table and should qualify.
